Agree with the other reviews that Numi Scan provide a wonderful experience. The staff are all lovely and make you feel at ease from start to finish. I had a gender blood test and scan done and did not feel that the process was rushed in any way, I got to see my baby projected onto the wall in front of me which is not something I had experienced anywhere else where it’s normally a much smaller screen. I got to take 4 photos away with me but got sent all of them electronically to keep. My gender blood test was on Saturday and I’ve already received my results the following Tuesday afternoon! Amazing service all round, would 100% recommend

Yes, and most private clinics in the UK operate this way, including ours. Because Numi Scan Gosforth is CQC-regulated and our scans are performed by experienced and registered sonographers, the clinical pathway is the same standard you'd get on the NHS. The only practical difference is you book it yourself rather than wait for a referral.
No, and we'd never suggest it should be. Your NHS dating and anomaly scans are the diagnostic gold standard for screening fetal anomalies, and you should always attend them. What private scans add is the things the NHS isn't designed to give you: an extra reassurance look at 7–9 weeks, a 4D HD Live face on the 28-week sweet spot, longer appointments, more guests, photos and digital images you actually own. Outside of the routine NHS dating and 20-week anomaly scans, getting an extra ultrasound on the NHS often means weeks of waiting, assuming you qualify in the first place. At our Gosforth clinic, an early pregnancy reassurance scan, gender scan or 4D bonding scan can usually be booked within 24–48 hours, and often on the day you call us.

Yes: Numi Scan Gosforth is registered with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission, the body that oversees clinical standards across NHS and private healthcare in England. Quick version: 3D gives you a still photo-style render of baby's face; 4D adds movement, so you watch baby in real time; HD Live adds photorealistic lighting that softens skin and brings facial detail closer to a baby photo than a clinical scan. Our scan suite is one of the most spacious you'll find in Newcastle: there's comfortable sofa seating, two 46-inch LED TVs and a projector wall, so partners, grandparents, older children and best friends can all see your baby clearly at the same time. It happens. Babies wriggle, sleep, hide their faces. If we can't capture what you booked the scan for, gender on a Gender Baby Scan, a clear face on a 4D scan, we'll bring you back free of charge for a follow-up scan, Monday to Friday, within two weeks.
Our earliest reliable ultrasound is from 6 weeks (read the 6-week scan milestone guide for what to expect). The Early Pregnancy Viability Scan covers 6–9 weeks and the Early Pregnancy Reassurance Scan covers 10–14 weeks. If you want to know baby's gender as early as possible, the DNA-based Early Gender Blood Test works from 7 weeks.
We do. The Growth and Presentation Scan (£79, from 24 weeks) checks baby's position, growth measurements, amniotic fluid levels, placenta location, useful both for late-pregnancy reassurance and for birth planning if you're weighing up a vaginal vs C-section delivery.
